John Baures

John Baures, age 63, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 4, 1961, to the late James and Delores (Kaiser) Baures in the Gays Mills area. John attended North Crawford High School and afterwards, he went straight into the work force, working for Cleary Building in construction and BAPI as a factory worker.

He was an avid fisherman. John could be found boating with his brother, Ken, on the Mississippi River or on Cordell Lake. John enjoyed spending quiet time outdoors, whether it was bearing the weather out in the woods hunting or adventuring on a good old fashioned camping trip. If John wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, he could be found watching the Green Bay Packers. John’s son, Randy, was his best friend; they could be found almost everywhere together whether it was camping, fishing, or just going on adventures.

John is survived by his son, Randy; his siblings: Ann Lessard, James (Vicky) Baures, Ken (Ruth) Baures, Pat Heal, Joe (Sandi) Baures, Kathy (Rick) Fradette, Mike Baures, and Linda (Dennis) Bunts; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Paulette Holliday; his brother, Tom Baures; his brother-in-law, Thomas Lessard; and his three nephews: Brian Baures, Dennis Bunts, Jr., and Will Holliday.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service. John will be laid to rest at the Gays Mills Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
