John Phillip Ries, Iii

Readstown, WI “The Man. The Myth. The legend.” John Phillip Ries III “Johnny” died Tuesday, March 17, 2020, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 24, 1956, the son of John Phillip and Jeannette (Eggert) Ries. He was a Navy veteran serving in the Vietnam War on the USS Coral Sea. John was retired from sales and received many sales awards for top sales of the year throughout his career. John loved cooking out with his family and friends. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them his crazy antics. John also enjoyed mowing lawn for neighbors and providing sweets for all the local kids. He loved his dogs Mic & Cooper. He loved his family, the Packers, playing cribbage and talking to many friends and family about life. John is survived by his children: Lance (Kari Salter) Ries, Jackie (Bert) Miller, Heather (Lucas Kelly) Ries, Kyle Ghostly, Stepdaughter Elizabeth (Derek) Ford; his mother Jeannette; his sisters: Pat (Dennis) Hofdahl of Minnesota, Catherine (Jeff) Gray of Janesville, Mary (Martin) Fischer of California, Carol (Jerry) Lanser of Georgia. Further survived by the mother of his children Julie (Jeffson) Blaser of Viola; 15 grandchildren who meant the world to him as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by wife Carol; his son John Philip IV; his father John Phillip; brothers Michael and Steven and his sister Maryanne. Due to the current health crisis, private services for the family have been provided. There will be plans for a ‘Celebration of Life’ and Memorial Service to be held at a later date.
