Joseph "Doc" Mcglynn

Joseph “Doc” McGlynn, born July 11, 1929, to Mildred (McCarthy) and John McGlynn of Cazenovia, WI, died on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at his home. He graduated from Cazenovia High School in 1947. Joe served in the United States Air Force for six years. While in the Air Force, he spent time in Berlin supporting the Air Lift. Joe attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison and graduated from the University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 1960. He married Barbara Jean Roufs in 1958, and they moved to Soldiers Grove in 1960, where he practiced until his retirement in 1996. He was an avid reader, his favorite books to read were biographies, poetry, and Russian literature. Joe enjoyed many hiking trips in Montana and England with family and friends. He was also an expert marksman and had his own target range. He was an amateur botanist as well. Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barb; his children: Matthew (Diana Swiggum), Mary (Kent Huisman), and Mildred (Craig Rotzoll); 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and his nephew James McGlynn (Lisa Fry), who shared his birthdate and spent a lot of time with Joe’s family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Michael; one great grandchild, Saul; his sister, Molly; and his brothers: Tom, John, and Harry. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. A private graveside service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Soldiers Grove Public Library or a charity of your choice in Doc’s memory.
