Joyce E. Strait

Joyce E. Strait, age 73 of Viroqua, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Joyce Elaine Strait, age 73 of Viroqua, died early Tuesday morning, February 5, 2008 at her home. She was born on June 30, 1934 near St. Cloud, Minnesota and was the daughter of Anton and Henrietta (Fireaubent) Habiger. On April 18, 1959 she was united in marriage to Donald L. Strait. Joyce had been in clock sales in Germany. She worked in Viroqua at Felixs Mens and Womens Clothing Store where she met Donald. She had also worked at Kwik Trip, the Viroqua Cab Company, and had been a Certified Nursing Assistant at Vernon Manor for 14 years. In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by three children: Wayne B. (Sandy) Strait of Wonewoc, Wis., and children: William (Maria), Mike, and Sara (Corey); Jeffrey D. (Nancy) Strait of Mauston, Wis. and children: Jack, Brandi, Shane, and Vern (Emily), and Natalie J. Brockman (Brent) of Cashton, Wis. and children: Dustin and Starr (special friend Layne Sasse); great-grandchildren: Mikey, Maddie, Corbin, Austin, Dyllan and Christopher; sisters-in-law, Myrna (Mike) Kelley and Janice Markee; nieces and nephews: Mark (Maureen), Mary Ellen (Victor) Czajka, David (Tye), Brian, Lisa (Mike) Jelenic; great nieces and nephews: Michelle, Melissa, Michael, Kari, Kelly, Quincey, Griffin, Cooper, Margaret Ann, and Elizabeth; and best friend since first grade: Rena Bernick of St. Cloud, MN. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters. Family memorial services were held at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua with The Reverend Dean Staffanson, chaplain at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center officiating. Burial was in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spooner. The family requests memorial to the Gundersen-Lutheran Hospice or the Gundersen-Lutheran Cancer Program, LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
