Joyce Fryseth, 84, of Ferryville, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Joyce Fryseth, 84, passed with peace and grace on April 11, 2017 with her family at her side. Joyce was born in Crawford County on July 26, 1932, and attended Gays Mills High School. On November 8, 1950, she married Norman Fryseth of Ferryville where she enjoyed sewing, crochet, making beautiful wedding cakes, reading and researching genealogy. She was an active member of the Utica Lutheran Church, and the "Mary Circle". The sun rose and fell upon her love of her family, loved spending time with friends and relatives. Her home was open to all neighbors and her kitchen was never closed. She and Norm retired in 1994, and in addition to their many travels, she became a skilled genealogist creating detailed binders of photos and information. She will be always remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest passion was helping others. Joyce is survived by: her loving husband, Norman, son, Dwight Fryseth of Winona MN, daughter, Jan Fryseth Shedivy of Maple Grove MN, grandchildren: Heather Hodge (Chris) of St. Michael MN, Craig Shedivy, (girlfriend, Angel Scherer) of Minneapolis, MN; and great-grandchildren Mackenzie Hodge and Maxon Hodge of St. Michael, MN. She was predeceased in death by: her loving father, Robert Stevenson and mother, Bertha Helgerson Stevenson; by her loving brother, Ivan Stevenson and wife and sister-in-law, (Evelyn Warren Stevenson) of Ferryville; sister, Bernilda Stevenson McDowell, Viroqua, and husband Elmer; son, Larry McDowell of rural Desoto; sister-in-law, June (Adolph Stevenson); and brother-in-law, Alvin Emerson (Edith). She leaves us rich in memories. The family wishes to thank staff of Vernon Memorial and Gundersen Hospital for their care. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Utica Lutheran Church. Pastor Nile Sandeen will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
