Joyce Hoium

Joyce Hoium, age 74 of rural Genoa, died Saturday January 12, 2013. Joyce Ann Arnold Hoium, 74, of Genoa quietly passed away on January 12, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. Joyce was born September 27, 1938 in De Soto to Harry Sr. and Marjorie Arnold. On February 16, 1957 she was united in marriage to Roger Hoium. Joyce is survived by her husband Roger of Genoa; daughters Pamela (Fred) Cullison of Sandwich, IL; Karen (Doug) Hoium of Sheridan, IL, and Kimberly Meier of Lansing, IA; grandchildren Jamie, Fred Jr, Billy Joe, Jennifer, Natally, Josh and Joey; great-grandchildren Cody, Paige, Fred III, Logan, Tyler, Kala, Skylar, Wyatt and Bridgett; sisters Ruth (Robert) Draka of Stoddard, and Geri (the late Earl) Wyburn of De Soto; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Harry (Pauline) Arnold Jr.; sisters Bernice (Richard) Mellem and Beverly (Harold Hinkel and Delmar Backhaus); and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2012, at the De Soto Lutheran Church. Pastor Doug Andersen will officiate with burial to follow at the De Soto Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main St., in De Soto. Friends may also call on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.
