Joyce Marie Sutton, of Viroqua, WI, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 21, 2025, at the age of 88. Joyce passed away peacefully at Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua, WI. Joyce was born June 22nd, 1937, to the late Esther Alvira (Warren) and Herman Andrew Springborn near Retreat in Vernon County, WI. Joyce was raised on the Springborn family farm and graduated from DeSoto High School in 1955.
Joyce was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harry H. Sutton of Seneca, on July 28th, 1956, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. Joyce spent her first years as a military spouse while her husband Harry finished his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps, living in Fallbrook, CA. After returning to WI, they raised 3 beautiful children and remained married for the next 68 years. In September 1963, the Sutton family of 5 moved to Burlington, WI, Racine County, where all three children were raised and graduated. The family attended Cross Lutheran Church of Burlington faithfully throughout these years.
Joyce worked in a variety of jobs throughout the years, but her primary job was to love and care for her husband and children. Joyce worked as a nursing assistant at Mount Carmel Nursing Home in Burlington. She also worked for Helping Hands, catering services, and Orech Vacuums in Elkhorn, WI. After moving to Viroqua, Joyce loved to volunteer at Viroqua Elementary School's “Reading with Grandma” program. Joyce and Harry also tremendously enjoyed being a part of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Viroqua Bluegrass Gospel Music Association and the Senior Sentimental Singers Choir Group of Vernon County.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Sutton; a son and his wife, Dennis (Monica) Sutton of Aurora, NE, brother, Allen and sister-in-law, Margaret; brother, Roger Springborn; her parents; and brothers-in-law Miles Bohland and Don Geddes.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Barbara Ann Elliott (Andy) of Atalissa, IA and Linda Aguilar (John) of Waddell, AZ; two sisters, Eloda Bohland of De Soto, WI and Margaret Geddes of Burlington, WI; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin & Alice Springborn of Holmen, WI; brother, Harlen Springborn; brother, Loren (Marlene) Springborn of Redmound, WI; six grandchildren, Mindy, Matthew, Aaron, Eli, Sara, and Vincent; and nine great-grandchildren; Aisyln, Colin, Rowan, Alyvia, Clayton, Cashton, Callen, Nora, and Cole.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church are appreciated. The family wishes to thank Campbell Family Homes, Vernon Acres, and Vernon Manor for excellent care and support.
A Funeral Service for Joyce will be held at Noon on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua, Pastor Chris Rajkumar will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the service, and burial will be in the Walnut Mound Cemetery.
