Judi A. Paulson-Fortney, age 55 of Readstown, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Judith "Judi" Ann Paulson-Fortney, age 55 of Readstown, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at her home after an eight month battle with cancer. She was born on February 25, 1954 to Alton and Kathleen (Erickson) Haltorp. She attended Viroqua High School and worked at the Bethel Home in Viroqua for 30 years and then at Vernon Manor. She had been married to Mike Simonson and later Douglas Paulson, who died on April 20, 1995. On April 17, 2008 she married Joseph A. Fortney. Judi enjoyed dancing, fishing and spending time with her kids and grandkids who she thought the world of.She is survived by her husband, Joe; children: Joe (Kim) Simonson of Viroqua, Angela (Andrew) Kast of Sparta, Jeremy Simonson of Viroqua, Terry Paulson of Madison and Ryan Paulson of La Crosse; five step children: Jared Paulson, Leah Paulson, Joseph W. Fortney, Luke (Amanda) Fortney and Kim Fortney; 12 grandchildren: Erin, Rachel, Collin, Annika, Jeff, Kyle, Allison, Wyatt, Emma, Garrett, Gage and Hannah; her mother, Kathleen Haltorp of Viroqua; two sisters: Linda Ostrem and Brenda (Mark) Turben; one brother, Dennis Haltorp; step grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.In addition to Douglas Paulson she was preceded in death by her father, Alton on December 31, 1984; one brother, Larry Haltorp on March 7, 2000; her special friend, Lynette Anderson in 1994.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Peace Lutheran Church in Readstown. Pastor Paul Carlson and Pastor Dave Allen will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main Street (Hwy 14 S.) in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.In lieu of flowers and plants memorials are preferred. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
