June Copus, 65, of Gays Mills, died Thursday, October 29, 2015. June I. Copus, 65, of Gays Mills, WI passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 12:20 p.m., at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care, in Viroqua. She was born on the family farm in Marietta Township, Crawford County, to Grover J. and Elsie (Dobson) Jones on June 22, 1950. She graduated from Wauzeka High School in 1968 and married Marvin L. Copus, the love of her life, on October 26 of that year in Boscobel at the Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband Marvin, of Gays Mills; one son, Timothy (Tammy) of Machesney Park, IL; and two gorgeous grandsons, Cody (Katie) and AuLana both of Machesney Park, IL. Also two brothers, Dennis (Kelley) Jones and Douglas (Marilee) Jones, both of Wauzeka. One sister-in-law, Marsha Jones of Wauzeka, and a brother in law, Donald Lange of Sturtevant, WI. Also surviving her are brothers-in-law Lawrence Copus, Seneca; Merlin (Joyce) Copus, Viroqua; Roger Copus, Soldiers Grove; Stanley Copus, Soldiers Grove; Clarence (Cathy) Copus, Soldiers Grove, Dennis Copus, Soldiers Grove; Edward (Lori) Copus, Ferryville; Clifford (Mary Ann Merriman) Copus, Mt. Zion. Also sisters-in-law Darlene (Lloyd) Snodgrass, Boscobel, and Karen (Dean) Knoble, of Richland Center. She also has a loving extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents; two brothers, Kenneth Jones of Racine, and David Jones of Wauzeka; one sister Virginia Lange of Sturtevant, two sister-in-laws: Rose Jones, Racine, and Belva Copus; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law Bertha and Beuford Copus of Soldiers Grove. She loved being with family and friends, campfires, waterfalls, outcroppings, RVing, and singing with family and friends at gatherings. She and Marve lived in Rockford and Machesney Park for many years and retired to Gays Mills in 2007. She worked for the Harlem School District in Machesney Park, IL for 30 years. At the time of her retirement, she was manager of the central kitchen at Harlem Middle School in Machesney Park. Working in food service, she was involved with the state association in several capacities; as single-unit chairperson, conference decoration chair, and legislation chairperson. She felt she was blessed to work with so many wonderful people and she cherished the people she met along the way. Since her retirement, June helped develop the Appleland Community Closet in Gays Mills and was a volunteer treasurer for the Methodist Church in Gays Mills. Donations for the Appleland Community Closet will be accepted in June's name at the Royal Bank in Gays Mills. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, Hwy 131 and Sunset Ridge in Gays Mills. Pastor Stan Pegram and Wayne Goplin will co-officiate.
