Karen A. Olson

VIROQUA Karen A. Olson, age 81, died Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua. VIROQUA 1934 2016 Karen was born on September 26, 1934 in Viroqua to Albert and Ella (Hanson) Tryggestad. She was a graduate of Viroqua High School class of 1953. She then went on to become a certified cosmetologist in Madison and became a hairstylist in Whitefish Bay. Karen got married to Beuford Olson on April 16, 1955 at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Viroqua. They celebrated 61 years of marriage. Together they farmed in Newton Valley, raising their children until 1979. She continued to work part time as a hairstylist and in later years worked at the Viroqua Country Kitchen. She was a loyal member of the Living Faith Church in Viroqua. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and spending time with her family She is survived by her husband Beuford Olson and three children Paula (Mark Dunnum) Tharp of La Crosse, Peggy (Kerry Gold) Rasmussen of Oak Park CA, and Jeff Olson of Brooklyn Park MN. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Melissa (Al) Abdiu of Viroqua, and Taylor and Allie Rasmussen. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Merlin and Maynard Tryggestad, and 2 sisters Darlene Lee and Dorothy Burt. Funeral Services for Karen will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Living Faith Church 852 N. Main St. in Viroqua (next to the food pantry). Pastor Dale Toltzman will officiate with burial following in Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker, Hwy 56 in Viroqua, Monday, May 16, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM and again on Tuesday, May 17 at the church one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials may be directed to the charity of the donors choice in Karens name.
