Karen Swenson, of Westby, died Sunday, July 12, 2015. Karen Swenson, 69 of Westby, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at her home. She was born June 12, 1946 to Oscar and Edna Olson of Westby. Karen was a lifelong member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. She graduated from Westby High School in 1964, and then went to Wisconsin Technical School in La Crosse. She worked for the Westby-Coon Valley State Bank for 33 years. Karen married Lyle Swenson and was later divorced. She became a special friend and helper to Keith Swenson. Karen was treasurer of her church for many years and also treasurer of the Westby Historical Society. She like helping with sewing mission quilts at her church. Karen is survived by two sisters: Arleen Buros, and Edith Solberg both of Westby; two brothers: Loren (Sharon) Olson of Westby, and Paul (Annette) Olson of Mauston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Ralph and Jerome Olson; sister, Justine; brothers-in-law: Nordahl Buros, and Kenneth Solberg; sister-in-law, Helen Olson; nephews: Bruce and Douglas Solberg; great nephew, Cody Olson; and special friend, Keith Swenson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Daniel Wollman will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery.
