Kari K. Matson-Fortney, age 65 of Westby, died Sunday May 27, 2018. Kari (Matson) Fortney was born on July 7, 1952 to Clifford and Hildegard (Yaun) Matson in the hospital in Viroqua. Kari lived in Madison, WI for years and raised her family there. She was a Registered Nurse, and worked at both UW and Meriter Hospitals in Madison. Kari moved to Westby in 2016 and lived in Nordic Village. She was a wonderful Christian mother and was a very kind person who had many great friends. Blessed be our memories of Kari. Kari is survived today by: her mother Hildagarde, one daughter Karissa (David) Campiola, three sisters Margaret (Richard) Hansen, Margaretta Overbo and Gretchen (Andy) Brudos as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her father Clifford in April of 2010, and by her son Alexander Fortney in May of 2005. Funeral services will be Thursday May 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Bad Axe Lutheran Church (on County Rd. N, South of 56W, west of Viroqua). Pastor Don Greven will officiate with burial following the service in the Church cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation one-hour prior to the service, from 10:00 11:00 AM at the Church. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials may be directed to: the Pacific Garden Mission, a mission of your own choosing or to the Bad Axe Lutheran Church in Karis name.
