Kathleen E. Anderson, age 74 of Viroqua died Sunday February 3, 2019. Kathy Elaine Anderson, age 74, died Sunday February 3, 2019 at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care. Kathy was born October 15, 1944 to Roger and Betty (Callaway) Andrew. She graduated from LaFarge High School in 1962. She attended the Normal School in Viroqua where she earned an Associates Degree. On October 17, 1964 she was joined in marriage to Larry Anderson at the LaFarge United Methodist Church. They moved to Westby in 1965 when Larry started work at the Westby Co-Op Credit Union. In 1969 they bought a small farm in the Town of Christiana. Kathy ran the family farm while Larry continued to work at the Credit Union. Kathy was very proud to raise registered Holsteins, she was a member of the Vernon County Holstein Association, Seas Branch Smithies 4-H club and Faith Circle at Westby-Coon Prairie Church. Kathy was the 1962 Westby Ski Queen. In 1982 she began working at Westby Realty while she continued to run the family farm. In 1988 they sold the family farm and moved to Westby. It was then that Kathy started an entirely different career working in Human Resources at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital and Franciscan Skemp. She retired in 2004 and immediately began volunteering every morning at the Bethel Buttik. She joined her wonderful, long time friends every morning to sort and organize donations. They also visited and drank coffee along with working hard to keep the Bethel Buttik well stocked. She is survived by her three children Jodi (Darren) Larson of Marshfield, Dean (Amy) Anderson of West Salem and Carla (Josh) Berscheit of Eau Claire. Her wonderful grandchildren that she loved deeply, Tanner and Lexi Anderson, Syd Rayan, Katelyn and Nick Larson, Ben and Joey Berscheit. She is survived as well by her siblings Tom Andrew, Kelley (Carrie) Andrew, Beth (Bob) Trautsch, Karen Andrew, Sarah (Dave) Larson, Rosemary (Frank) Andrew-Light; and many nieces and nephews and long-time friends in the Westby area. Per Kathys wishes there will be a Memorial Service to celebrate her life at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church on Friday February 8, 2019 at 11:30 with a luncheon to follow. Pastor Dan Wollman will officiate. Friends may call during a visitation from 10:30-11:30 AM at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers Kathys wishes would be that you would donate to one of the following places that were important to her, Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, LaFarge School District Scholarship Fund, Lawton Library in LaFarge, the Bethel Buttik and /or the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care.
