Kathryn Sommerfeld

Kathryn L. Sommerfeld, 86, of Ferryville died Friday, November 13, 2009 at Thornton Manor in Lansing, Iowa. Kathryn was born in DeSoto on June 24, 1923 to William and Mary Witcraft. On June 28, 1949 she was united in marriage to Clarence Sommerfeld. She was an avid quilter, seamstress, and a member of Northwest Prairie Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Kathryn is survived by her children Mervin Sommerfeld, Claudia (Dale) Knobloch, Curtis (Maureen) Sommerfeld; 2 grandchildren; 1 grandson in law; 7 great grandchildren; and sister Vera Degarmo. She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence; grand-daughter Debra Corroa; daughter-in-law Gloria Sommerfeld; siblings Aubrey, Arlan, Faye, Fern, Beatrice; and sister-in-law Ann Karker. A memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral home in DeSoto with Pastor Terri-Jo Skildum officiating.
