Kay Schmitz

Kay Schmitz, age 61 of Sparta, died Saturday, May 15, 2010. Kay Ann Schmitz, 61, of Sparta died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Franciscan Skemp Hospital in Sparta. Kay was born in Viroqua on June 12, 1948 to LeRoy and Barbara (Alderman) Schmitz. Kay spent her life as a Chef at local restaurants and was famous for her Angel Food Cake and Sea-Foam candy. She also worked from home as a seamstress, and enjoyed spending time canning, cooking and baking. Kay loved her cats, and was a wonderful sister and friend. She is survived by her brother, Randy (Carol) Schmitz of Sparta; Aunts: Jolene (Jerry) Vieth of Sparta, and Arlene (Tim) Lambert of Wausau; special friends: Elsa Yeske of Sparta, and Dr. Jim Tripp of Sparta; and many other cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, at Angelo Cemetery, rural Sparta. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
