Kenneth J. McLees, 83, of West Salem formerly of Liberty Pole, died Friday, September 23, 2011. Kenneth J. McLees, 83, of West Salem formerly of Liberty Pole, died Friday, September 23, 2011 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital surrounded by his family. Ken was born on March 29th, 1928 in Twin Valley, MN to Guy and Martha (Holtman) McLees. In February 1946, Ken enlisted in the United States Army. During half of that tour, he was stationed in the Philippines. On April 25th, 1969, he married Judith Ann (Davitz) Phillips. After serving in the military, Ken was a men of all trades, including working for Metcut in Rockford, Illinois, long haul truck driver, Surge Pipelines and as an auto mechanic. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, camping, going out west, cards, casinos, telling old stories, and most of all, spending time with his family. Ken is survived by his wife Judy. Sons: Harry (Lisa) McLees, Ron (Kelly) Phillips, Jerry (Pam) Phillips, Ken (Lisa) McLees. Daughter: Linda (Eric) Hughes. Grandchildren: Branden McGinnis, Kessa Hughes, Jacob & Julie Phillips, Vanessa, McKenna and Trevor Phillips, Lily, Autumn, and Leah McLees. Great Grandchildren: Isaiah McGinnis, Landyn and Carter Williams, Sadie Nelson. Brother: Gary (Kathy) McLees. Sister: Joyce Morris, Ethel (Tom) Frey, Donna (John) Shepherd. Sister-in-law: Erma McLees, Sharon McLees, Carol McLees, and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Martha McLees. Brothers: Don, Ray, Robert and Allen McLees. Sisters: Jean and Mary McLees. Brother-in-law: Burton Morris. Sister-in-law: Winnie McLees. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56), in Viroqua with burial to follow in Walnut Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and also on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
