Listen to Obituary

Lana L. Olson, age 77, of Soldiers Grove, passed away on October 27, 2025, at Soldiers Grove Health Services.

She was born on October 28, 1947, to Jasper and Louise (Salmon) Davenport. She married Donald "Digger" Olson on October 30, 1965, at the Community of Christ Church. They lived in the Soldiers Grove area, and in May of 1976, they moved to the family farm where Lana was born and raised. Together, they built a life based on love and laughter. Their partnership during health challenges showed all who knew them the true meaning of "in sickness and in health."

Lana was baptized into the Community of Christ Church at the age of eight and was a lifetime faithful member.

While in Jr High and High School, Lana worked on the apple orchard each summer with her Father. She was a stay‑at‑home Mom until both Roger and Dean were in school. Lana then began work at North Crawford Schools as a Preschool Aide and Jr High Aide until 1980, when she became the high school secretary. Lana enjoyed working at school and loved the interaction and association with the students, parents, and North Crawford staff. She always felt a true "Mother" loved all children and applied that in the office. After retiring from North Crawford Schools in June of 2003, Lana began a small house-cleaning business. She was the accountant for Donald's business from its inception. Lana's philosophy was to count your blessings, enjoy each day, and always find humor in whatever you do, but her greatest joy in life came with her interaction with grandchildren, camping, and dancing with Donald. Dancing was a big part of Donald and Lana's life, and they treasured the friendships with all their dance friends.

Lana is survived by her two sons: Roger (Karen) of Soldiers Grove and Dean (Peggy) of Watertown, WI; four grandchildren: Jenna (Wyatt) Copus, Richland Center, Jadon (Josie Wiltrout) Olson, Viroqua, Trevor Olson, Watertown, and Nicholas (Kara Burke) Olson, Watertown; great grandchildren: Sawyer Copus and Ava Olson. She is further survived by her brother, Marvin (Mary) Davenport of Cazenovia, WI; sisters-in-law, Jan Poltrock, Patricia Whitfield, Judy Dunnum; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Larry (Nancy) Olson, Karen (Mike) Chaplinski, Susie (Darwin) Utynek, Marla (Mike) Walsh, Paul (Annette) Olson, Teresa (Chris) Swiggum and Brian (Julie) Olson; neighbors, Jay and Angie, who became family; and a host of treasured nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Digger Don; her parents, Jasper and Louise; her in-laws, Thomas and Pauline Olson; and four brothers: Gordon, Harland, Roger, and Arden Davenport.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the family, friends and healthcare workers who walked alongside Lana during her journey. She always appreciated the kindness, compassion and support she was given.

Blessed be the memory of Lana Olson.
