Larry Everson

July 17, 1947 — September 3, 2012

Larry Everson, 65, of Viroqua died Monday, September 3, 2012. Larry T. Everson, surrounded by his loving family, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center after a courageous and determined battle with esophageal cancer. Larry was born July 17, 1947 to Thomas and Geraldine (Swiggum) Everson. Tom and Gerry instilled in Larry a love of 3 three things: God, Family and hard work. Larry lived his life embodied in theses values. Larry was confirmed at Kickapoo United Lutheran Church. He graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1965. On February 18, 1967 Larry married the love of his life, Linda McDaniel and began a new chapter of making that family that he was destined to have. Larrys family grew to include his kids, their partners and his grandchildren. Tim (Cheryl) along with their children Hannah and Kyle live in Marshfield, WI. Troy (Pedro) live in Burlington, WI. Tammy (Luke Zitzner) with their children Madysen, Saige and Braylan live in Viroqua, WI. Larry had a special pet phrase with each of his grandchildren but the phrase he shared with all of his family was "I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK." Larry is further survived by his brother Bob of Coon Valley, sister Wanda (Ian) Aird, and brother Tony (Barb) both of Viroqua. Larry is also survived by his mother-in-law, Naomi McDaniel, of Viroqua. His in-laws John and Sharon Grim of Viola and Richard McDaniel of Utah also survive him. Larrys also has many nieces, nephews and friends that mourn his passing. Welcoming Larry into heaven were his parents Tom and Gerry Everson, his sister Julie Showen, his father-in-law George McDaniel and special friend David Pedersen. He now communes with these and many other angels. Finally, a few of the angels here on Earth that helped Larry enjoy his life for the past year were headed by his care teams including Dr. Roger Kwong and Anne Sherry, PA-C along with their staffs. Larrys life work involved using his hands. His work career and play time were spent in service to others. Larry was instrumental as a driving force and founding member of North Crawford Rescue Squad. He was also very proud of his membership and retirement with the Operating Engineers Local #139. Larry would greatly appreciate any and all who read this, as often as you read this, to think of a task you can do for others to pay it forward and then "get to it." Services celebrating Larrys life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastors Kathryn Ingbritsen and Steven Fossum will co-officiate. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call on Friday after 10:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family has requested that memorials be given to the Vernon Memorial Hospice House or the American Cancer Society. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
