Larry HumfeldJuly 17, 2005, Larry Humfeld, 24, of Stoddard, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse from injuries sustained in an industrial accident. He was born April 3, 1981, at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Roger and Joyce (Stoltz) Humfeld. He graduated from Westby High School in 1999, where he was actively involved in 4-H and Track and Field. He graduated from Western Wisconsin Technical College in May, 2002, with a degree in Printing and Publishing. Larrys energetic personality and constant smile made him a recognizable face at the Kmart of La Crosse where he had worked since 2000. He turned his degree into a career as he began employment at the La Crosse Tribune at 2002. While some cringe at late night shifts and messy conditions, Larry loved every aspect of his job and laughed at his ink covered appearance that routinely followed a shift in the press room. On January, 2004, Larry was married to Amy Kimmet of La Crosse. While outside appearances would show great differences between the couple, Larry being over six feet tall with Amy standing a mere five feet, the deep love of the couple made them a visible sign of unbreakable unity. Larry had a large heart and devoted most of his time to his family. He was a wonderful husband, brother, brother-in-law, son, and grandson.
