Larry J. Campbell, age 82, of La Farge, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024. He was born on March 29, 1942, to the late Harlan and Pansy (Alderman) Campbell on the Campbell family farm in the township of Webster. Larry graduated from West Lima High School in 1960, and after graduation, worked with his brother, Dave, in hauling milk. After a short time, Larry had enlisted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged from the reserves. When Larry came back from his time in the military, he returned to farming and then went to work for Herbeck in Hillsboro. Most of his life, Larry drove truck whether it was for a company or for his own jobs.
In 2003, Larry married Bev Ward at the Faith United Methodist Church and together they continued to be active members. After their marriage, Larry and Bev traveled to many different destinations in the states, but their favorite would have to be traveling to Texas where they visited family and site saw.
During his years, Larry had a great number of hobbies. In the years when his mother was still alive, Larry and Pansy would spend time by putting together puzzles, some of which he would glue together to keep them as memories. Larry also would go squirrel hunting with his brothers when they would go out to cut wood, always beating their dad for the number of squirrels they got. During his retirement, Larry would drive bus for the La Farge School District and the students and teachers all loved him. He also enjoyed going to the 3-Day Yuba dances and a good card game, his favorite being Pony.
Larry is survived by his wife, Bev; brothers: Harlan (Jo), Rich (Shirley), Stan, Doug (Fran), Phil, Gary, and Mike (Min); stepchildren: Teresa Yates, Tim (Dawn) Morris, Brad (Misty) Morris, and Kristi Ostrem; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, David (Patricia); sisters-in-law: Betsy, Deb, and Judy; nephews, Troy Campbell and Scott Gilman; and great-niece, Jenny Lynn Gratz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be expressed to the La Farge Ambulance or St. Croix Hospice in Larry’s memory.
