Larry L. Stewart

March 30, 1944 — April 7, 2024

Garland, TX - Larry L Stewart was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and patriot. A retired engineer at Raytheon/L3/E-Systems who cherished his leisure moments with family and friends, often by the water’s edge. Larry passed away on April 7th, 2024, at the age of 80 from natural causes, surrounded by friends and family that will continue to honor his legacy by celebrating his life and accomplishments.

Larry was born in Mitchell, SD on March 30, 1944. His parents Norman & Phyllis Stewart moved to Omaha, Nebraska when he was young where he went to Benson High School and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Larry pursued his dreams to serve his country in the U.S. military, joining the U.S. Army in 1963. After leaving the military with honor, Larry worked for ESI, which later became E-Systems in Bellevue, Nebraska. Shortly after, is where he met his wife, Carol (Fremstad) Stewart, with whom he shared a life filled with cherished memories. Their union extended to include their son, James Stewart, who became an integral part of their family. Moved to Garland, Texas in 1988 with E-Systems/L3/Raytheon where they enjoyed spending time on the water with his three grand-crew members, Gabrielle, Kennedi and Jett.

Larry navigated not only the practical aspects of his daily defense work but also the currents of the sea. From serene lakes to the vast expanse of ocean, he hoisted sails and set forth on countless voyages. The sun danced upon his weathered face as he charted courses along both coasts. The islands off the Florida coast were his away paradise and held secrets known only to those who dared to explore their hidden coves and sandy shores. His sailboats were more than vessels; they were extensions of his spirit and his family. Each creak of the hull whispered stories of sunsets, moonlit nights, and the camaraderie of fellow seafarers. Larry reveled in the salt-kissed air, the taste of adventure, and the freedom that only the open sea could provide. His hands, calloused from years of rigging and knots, held the wisdom of tides and the courage to chase horizons.

As the sun dips below the horizon one last time, we bid farewell to our fearless sailor. May the winds carry him to eternal shores, where the waves forever sing his name.
