Larry O. Johnson

Larry O. Johnson, age 81, of Viroqua, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Creamery Creek in Viroqua. He was born on December 22, 1940, to the late Lee and Lorraine (Schoenberger) Johnson. He was born in Sag City and grew up on his family farm in West Prairie. He attended Westby Schools and graduated from Westby High School. Following his schooling, he worked for the Vernon County Highway Department and retired from the Jefferson Township. He married Carol Gald on February 25, 1961. They celebrated 42 years of marriage until Carol’s death in 2003. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking, made over 100 birdhouses, enjoyed going for rides and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Lori (Frank) Wedwick, Teresa (Rory Kjome) Johnson, Michael (Marilyn) Johnson, and Kerrie Kirvan; grandchildren, Branden, Stephanie, Trisha, Melissa, Casey, Michaela, Dalton, Derrick, Kendra, and Raymond; 19 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Janet Guist, Kay (Jim) Willenberg, Linda (Ron) Cook, and Sandi Hunter; brother-in-law, Ron Pagel; daughter-in-law, Sandy Johnson; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; two sons, Mark and Bradley Johnson; brother, Richard Johnson; sister, Delores Pagel; brother-in-law, Charles Guist; sister-in-law, Matilda Fortun; and his nephew, David Guist.

A Gathering for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Burial will be held at a later date at the Belgium Ridge Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
