Larry Wayne Young

Larry Wayne Young, age 65, of Holmen, formerly of Viroqua, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021, from a long battle with liver disease. He was born September 10, 1956, to Melvin and Lillian “Orla” (Dahl) Young. Larry was baptized and confirmed at Good Shepherd Church in Viroqua. Larry attended Viroqua High School and then enlisted into the Army, where he served his country honorably. After leaving the Army, he worked various jobs where he grasped a passion for auto body repair and painting. After he got onto his feet with the skills, Larry and his wife, Theresa, started their own business in Viroqua, called Larry’s Car Care. On October 23, 1993, Larry was united in marriage to Theresa Michael in Viroqua. They joined their families to make one large happy family. Together they have three sons and four daughters. They raised their family in Viroqua where they lived. He was a man of many talents. He owned and operated his own business; painting cars to tractors, bikes to skateboards for local kids. He bought and sold timber. Larry loved the outdoors; he was a hunter and fisherman, always looking for morels and ginseng. His last few years, he was looking to get into gold prospecting. Larry and Theresa were planning a trip out west to Nevada to mine for gold. Larry was known for having a big heart and a great sense of humor. He didn’t know a stranger, always making friends wherever he went. Larry loved to entertain with backyard cookouts with his family. He was known as “Bo Duke” by his Kenosha cousins. Larry is survived by his wife of 28 years, Theresa; his sons: Dustin, Jesse, and Jayde; his daughters: Tina, Becky, Autumn, and Skyanne; his mother, Orla; his siblings: Mike (Gwen) Young, Cheryl (Tom) Walsh, Lisa (Harry) Mclees, Kristi (Jeff) Buroker, and Tim (Carol) Young; sisters-in-law: Lisa Young, Bobbi (Rich) Teeds, and Linda (Garry) Rood; seven grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially lifelong friends, Dean and Lynn Peterson from Winnemucca, NV. Larry is also survived by his three grand-dogs: Brutus, Dozer, and Callie. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin; his brother, Mark; mother-in-law, Janice Locke; father-in-law, Marshall Michael Jr.; and grandparents. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church in Viroqua. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Larry will be laid to rest at Viroqua Cemetery. Due to Covid, there will be no luncheon to ensure safety. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
