Laurie Ann Campbell

Laurie Campbell, 65, of La Crosse, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare. She was born in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Helen Coleman. She married Roy Campbell on August 17, 1968. Laurie received a bachelor degree in nursing from University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, a master degree in educational psychology from Winona State University, and a master degree in psychiatric nursing from University of Wisconsin Madison. She started her nursing career at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire and Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis. She began her nursing instructor career at Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing and retired from 30 years of teaching in the Associate Nursing program at Western Technical College in La Crosse. Laurie is survived by her husband Roy, her son Dan (and special friend, Neilu) of Sequim, Washington, her daughter Kathy Campbell of La Crosse, and her grandson Austyn of La Crosse. She is also survived by her parents Larry and Helen Coleman of La Crosse, three sisters Kay (Tom) Lee of Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin; Sue (Jon) Sleik of Mikana, Wisconsin; Janet (Mark) Wienkes of Sparta, Wisconsin, and one brother Dave (Kathleen) Coleman of Sparta, Wisconsin, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two infant children, and father-in-law, Cloyce Campbell. Laurie enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, traveling, volunteering in the community and singing in the choir at First Congregational Church. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in La Crosse at 11:00 am on Monday, December 10, 2012, with visitation at the church starting at 10:00 am. Pastor Bill Hoglund will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Salvation Army of La Crosse, or the music fund at First Congregational Church. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
