Laurie Sue Erickson

Laurie Sue (Stern) Erickson of Westby, Wisconsin died on Friday, September 4, 2026. She graciously endured the terminal and untreatable prion disease. She was born December 28, 1951, in Geneva, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lorna (Wenzel) Stern.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Erickson; son, Adam Erickson; brother, Richard (Sawyer) Stern; and the many friends who loved her.

Laurie graduated from Luther College with a degree in sociology and religion, attended classes at Wartburg Seminary, and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse from Western Wisconsin Technical Institute. In her 19 years as librarian at the Ontario Public Library, she was instrumental in forming many groups, really communities, that continue around hiking, knitting, bunko, selected book readings, among other areas of interest.

A celebration of her life is planned for a later date.

Memorials can be made to Kickapoo Valley Reserve or the Ontario, Wisconsin Public Library.
