Gays Mills Leary Powers, age 66, died Thursday August 25, 2016 at home surrounded by loved ones and caregivers. Leary L. Powers, 66 of rural Gays Mills, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2016. He was born May 15, 1950, the son of Gerald and Betty Jo (Childress) Powers of rural Lynxville. Leary attended Seneca High School in the 60's and served in the Army during Vietnam 1968-1970. He worked primarily as an electrician with a degree from Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, CA. Leary was married twice, producing two daughters and one son. When he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, his goal was to come back home to Wisconsin. He achieved the goal and enjoyed 3 weeks back on the farm near Gays Mills, with his cousin Ann (Ray) Anderson who have owned it since 1995. He was preceeded in death by his parents, grandparents Alan and Freda Powers, two brothers, Gary Lee and Gregory Powers. Leary is survived by daughters Shauna Powers Poe and Kristine Powers of Nampa, Idaho, a son Jesse, grandchildren Marissa, Dallas, Christine and Eli, greatgrand daughter Kailynn, sister Diana (Norm) Malekos, brother Wayne Powers, Dayton, NV, brother Ken Powers, Penn Valley, CA, nieces & nephews Melanie Cooper, Jeremy, Steven and Natalie Malekos, aunt Carmen Powers Crusan of Eastman, and many cousins here in the midwest.
