Leland 'Lee' Lewison, age 63 of Viroqua, died Friday, February 25, 2011. Leland 'Lee' Lewison, age 63 of Viroqua, died Friday, February 25, 2011 at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse after a 10 month battle with cancer. He was born on September 16, 1947 in Viroqua to Adolph 'Dutch' and Ardelle (Thompson) Lewison. Lee was baptized, confirmed, and a life member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. He graduated from Viroqua High School and also from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he majored in political science and history. On February 10, 1978 he was united in marriage to Jill Hoesly. He farmed until 1990 and then started his career with the U.S. Postal Service, first as a substitute rural carrier in Westby and then as a full time rural mail carrier for Viroqua. Lee loved cars and had a lifelong affinity for them. He also had an enthusiasm for sports which he instilled in and shared with his family and he especially loved going to his sons sporting events. Lee had a good sense of humor and quick wit and could find the humor in every situation, even during the final days of his life. In addition to his wife, Jill, he is survived by two sons, Mitch and Greg 'Corky' of Viroqua; one brother, Lewis (Joanne) Lewison of Viroqua; one sister, Lana (Steven D.) Skrede of Virouqa; two brothers-in-law: Bill (Liz) Hoesly and Jack (Cindy) Hoesly; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Blessed be our memory of Lee Lewison. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastors Margaret Eiben-Hoversten and Lindsay Paul Jordan will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
