Lenore Jensen

Lenore C Jensen, 89 of Viroqua, died Friday, April 11, 2014 She was born on April 18, 1924 to Carl and Lena (Hage) Bakkestuen. She was united in marriage to Forrest Jensen on October 30, 1943 at Vang Lutheran Church. Together they farmed in the Westby area until 1960 when they purchased a farm property in Viroqua. In 1979 they retired from farming and built a new home south of Viroqua. In 1960 they joined Immanuel Lutheran Church where they served on several committees, including teaching Sunday school, Vocational Bible School, was the Sunday school superintendent, and Vocational Bible school superintendent. Lenore was active in the Womens Group and served as Ed. Secretary, was the head of circle, and also served as Treasurer of the A.L.E.W. conference. She enjoyed music and sang in the church choir. She served as the President of the Family Leauge, and was a member of the Church Council. She also made personal banner for the church. In 1994 she moved to Viroqua. She has been part of Area Garden Club and Two Ridges Homemakers. She also sang with the Sweet Adelines, West Prairie Singers, and in the later years was a member of the Senior Center Sentimental Singers. She was a member of the Betherl Home Auxillary before she served on the Ways and Means. She is survived by her two children: Miles (Carol)Jensen, and Mark (Jean) Jensen; three grandchildren; Candice (Wayne) Black, Bradley (Sara) Jensen, and Tami (Chad) Olson; three great grandchildren: Colden Olson, Courtney Neeble, and Levi Black; four great-great grandchildren: Tyler, Allison, and Madison Darling, and Jackson Neeble; several step grandchildren and step great grandchilden; brother-in-law Milan Dunnum, two sister-in-laws: Ardys and Caroline Bakkesteun; further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Forrest Jensen in 1991; three brothers: Arnold, Clifford, and Marvin Bakkesteun; two sisters: Kathleen (William) Keuser and Alice Dunnum; brother-in-law, Alden Jensen; grandchild, Adam Jensen; and great grandchild, April Darling Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Pastor Jeff Coon will officiate with burial to follow in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W Decker St, in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. till the time of service at 11. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
