Leona L. Hill

Leona L. Hill, 90, of Viola died Wednesday, December 25, 2013. Leona died on December 25th , 2013 at the Vernon Manor at the age of 90. She was born on April 6, 1923 to Everett and Mary (Henry) Gray. She attended and graduated from Viola High School. On April 18th, 1942, Leona was united in marriage to Jack D. Hill. They lived and farmed on the family farm outside of Viola until 2002, at which time Leona moved to Viola until her death. Leona was a member of the Viola Pacesetters Homemakers, United Methodist Women, Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star Lodge, Sarah Circle and the Forest Township Election Worker. She is survived by her 2 nephews, who Jack and Leona raised: Daniel (Patty) Gray; and their children, Jerri Lynn (Rodney) Prem, Matthew (Kaitlyn) Gray: and Tom (Sandra) Gray; and their children Sarah (Troy) Long and Taylor; one sister Virginia Raymond; a special niece Marveline Johnson, and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in her death by her husband Jack; her parents; four sisters; Betty, Dorothy, Helen, and Phyllis, two brothers: Everett Jr. and Leroy. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Viola United Methodist Church. Pastor Wayne Hull will officiate with burial to follow in the Viola Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. till the time of service at 12. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Viola Cemetery, Kickapoo Rescue Squad, or the Viola United Methodist Church. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center of Viola is serving the family.
