Leona Rivera, age 50 of Westby, died Thursday, December 11, 2008 . Leona Rivera, age 50 of Westby and formerly of Beloit, died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. Leona was born on May 21, 1958 in Beloit to Donald and Mary Lou Schlegel. On August 27, 1981 she was united in marriage to Juan Rivera, Sr. Together, they had three children: Treasa Schlegel (Jim Lohmiller) of Popular Grove, IL, Yolanda Rivera (Troy Stodola ) of Cashton, and Juan Rivera, Jr. of Cashton; seven grandchildren: Angelica Rivera, Gabby Felten, Ana Rose Lohmiller, Jimmy Lohmiller, Keegan Carey, Khyla Rivera, and Malaki Rivera; two brothers, Fred (Jen) Schlegel of Gays Mills, and Donald Schlegel of Viroqua; one sister, Mary Martinez of Westby; three nephews: Donald Schlegel, Josh Schlegel, and Chris Schlegel; two nieces: Amanda Schlegel and Jessica Schlegel; many special friends including everyone at Scenic View apartments; Mary Holte, Verlyn Sagmoen, Alex Felten and Marilyn Flores. Leona was a very loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She loved all of her family and friends and will be sadly missed by her husband, mother, children, grandchildren brothers and sister. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Schlegel; many friends, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws from Mexico. Private family services will be held. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
