LeRoy "Lucky" Kenneth Torgerud, age 82 of Westby and formerly of Madison, died Monday, October 12, 2009. LeRoy "Lucky" Kenneth Torgerud, age 82 of Westby and formerly of Madison, died peacefully Monday evening, October 12, 2009 at his home. He was born on December 20, 1926 in Bangor to Roy and Gladis (Thompson) Torgerud. On February 16, 1951 he was united in marriage to Nira Goplen. Lucky was career military and served 20 years in the United States Air Force. Lucky most enjoyed spending time with his loving wife & family at their country home. They have many happy memories of riding go-carts, four-wheelers and snowmobiles as well as family holidays and gatherings. Lucky was also an avid model airplane enthusiast. In addition to his wife, Nira, he is survived by three children: Deborah (Raymond) Colonero of Mt. Horeb, LeRoy "Lee" (Lisa) Torgerud, Jr. of Cottage Grove, and Marcia (Roger) Russell fo Mazomanie; 10 grand children: John Rogers, Nira Colonero, Olivia Colonero, Max Colonero, Nicole (Reon) Rounds, Heather (Curt) Fletcher, Jennifer Polito, Eric Polito, Ryan Russell and Alex Russell; 2 great-granddaughters: Hayli Fletcher and Noelle Polito; three brothers: Donald Torgerud of LaCrosse, Bill Torgerud of Forrest Lake, MN and Jerry Torgerud of Webster, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy and three brothers: Richard, David and Robert. Private funeral services will be held. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
