Lester Verdell Olson

Lester Verdell Olson, age 83, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at the Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. He was born near Chaseburg on March 28, 1923 to Tilmar and Anna (Karlstad) Olson. He married Elise Lunde on April 8, 1944. They farmed a few years before moving to Milwaukee in 1957 and then moved back to the Westby area after they retired. Lester is survived by his wife, Elise, and four children: Lynn (Alex) Amundson of Viroqua, WI; Larry (Shirley) Olson of Hales Corners, WI; Dean Olson of Boston, MA; and Michael (Mary) Olson of Colgate, WI. There are nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Lester is further survived by one sister, June (Terry) Denny of Durand, IL; one half sister, Judy Talley of Winnebago, IL; and four nephews, as well as cousins, friends, and special neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Erland and one great-grandson. Funeral services for Lester will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 South Hwy 14 in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Skogdalen Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
