Lila Mikkelson, 88, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Lila Mikkelson, 88, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. Lila was born on July 13, 1928 to Albert and Georgia (Knutson) Holmes. She was baptized and confirmed at the Utica Lutheran Church. She graduated from Seneca High School in May of 1947. Lila was united in marriage to Norvin Mikkelson on October 18, 1947 at the Kickapoo parsonage. Lila loved baking kringles, lefse, and other Norwegian goodies. She was able to make a good meal out of a little bit of nothing. She always made sure there was something to send home with her family. Lila is survived by her husband, Norvin of Viroqua; five children: David (Kristy) Mikkelson of Ferryville, Lonnie (Norma Brockway) Mikkelson of Viroqua, Marilyn (Ernest) Nemec of Soldiers Grove, Mary (Rolland) Olson of Holmen, and Cathy Boland of Seneca; 13 grandchildren: Craig (Heidi) Stovey, Chad (Heidi) Stovey, Cory (Jennifer) Stovey, Shawna (Nick) Koch, Daniel (Siri) Mikkelson, Loren Mikkelson, Duane (Lu Folgia) Mikkelson, Sheri Cartwright, Wade (Erika) Olson, Sara Olson, Andy (Amy) Olson, Kurt (Laura) Olson, and Kelsey (Mike) Foley; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Frieda Bachim; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Mikkelson in 1977; son-in-law, John Boland in 2001; great grandson, Carter Stovey in 2007; sisters: Ruth Kenefick, Myrtle Anderson, and Geneva Olson; and brother, Mervin Holmes. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. Pastor Nile Sandeen will officiate with burial to follow in the Mt Sterling Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 3-5pm at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 12pm till the time of service at 1. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to an organization of the donors choice.
