Lillian J. Hanson

Lillian Jeanette (Leirmo) Hanson, age 102, of Viroqua, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Vernon Memorial Hospital. Lillian was born July 29, 1917, near Ferryville, WI to the late Chris and Clara (Aberg) Leirmo. She married Elden Wayne Hanson on December 31, 1941. Elden passed away January 22, 1983. Lillian lived in La Crosse since 1945, until she moved to Maplewood Terrace in Viroqua in 2004. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in La Crosse where she was very active in circle, sewing and quilting, bible study and other activities. She also spent several years as a volunteer worker at Gundersen Clinic in La Crosse. She liked to cook and garden, always having home canned and frozen foods from her gardens. She enjoyed traveling with friends in her later years before she moved from her home in La Crosse to Maplewood Terrace Assisted Living. She moved to Bethel Oaks in 2019. Survivors include her son Oved Wayne Hanson; her grandchildren: Devin Hanson, Cory Hanson, Amber (Hanson) Harrison, Randy Hanson, and Tammye Hanson; great-grandchildren: Caelyn Hanson, Brady Hanson, Carter Harrison, Colby Harrison, Rosemary Cox, and Ashley (Darrin) Stevenson; four great-great-grandchildren; her sisters: Ruth (Oliver) Lightfoot and Kristie (Orrin) Arneson; her daughter-in-law Barbara (Colwell) Hanson. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elden Hanson; her son Ronald Lewis Hanson; her brother Leslie Leirmo; her sisters: Alice (Art) Swiggum and Celia (Nels) Forde; daughter-in-law Katherine (Starkey) Hanson. A private funeral service will take place at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Lillian will be laid to rest at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park in La Crosse.
