Lillian Shanahan, 86, of La Farge, WI passed away quietly at her home. Lillian grew up in Hayward, WI and was the youngest of seven children. She loved the country, gardening, and raising animals. Her love of animals gave us many opportunities to have unique pets, including: a raccoon, baby deer, and a pig that barked and pulled laundry off the line.
At 18, Lillian moved to Chicago, IL where she married Edward (Pat) Shanahan. In 1966, Lill and Pat moved to the farm outside of La Farge, WI and raised six children. On their farm they raised dairy cattle along with other crops. After Lill and Pat divorced, she met Larry Egge and had a special relationship for 26 years.
Lill owned and operated her own trucking company and a house moving business until 2010. She retired and enjoyed the farm, the birds, and seeing all the new babies in the family.
We will miss her greatly!
Lillian is survived by her six children: Dawn (Mike) Melvin, Kelly (Bud) Spencer, James Shanahan, Patricia (Jamie) Vanourney, Robert Shanahan, and Kenneth Shanahan; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Dorothy Hart and Jeannie Luther; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Pearl (Denver) Smith and her siblings: Alan Smith, Gladys McCall, Alice Phillips, and Arthur Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the La Farge Free Methodist Church in La Farge. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
