Lincoln Stafslien, 79, of Westby died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. Lincoln was born November 9, 1934 to Thomas Julius and Alma (Larson) Stafslien in rural Chaseburg and graduated from Westby High School in 1952. He was united in marriage to Patrecia Douglas, his high school sweetheart, in 1954. Lincoln was an Electrical Lineman and retired from Vernon Electric Co-op after working there for over 27 years. Lincoln served his country in the United states Army and was very active and especially loved hunting and fishing. He spent a decade as a hunter safety instructor, was a member of the Westby Rod and Gun Club and also the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was a lifetime member of the Snowflake Ski Club and also served on the Westby Fire Department. As a supporter of local sports, Lincoln was a Legion baseball coach for 10 years and worked the chains at the Westby football games for 42 years. Lincoln is survived by his loving wife Pat; daughter Kay (Al) Kurschinski, son Todd (Deborah) Stafslien; grandchildren Logan Ann and Joshua Loran Germain; great-granddaughter Grace Ann Germain; step grandchildren Derek Hoff, Tony Hoff, Nicole Hoff; step great-grandson Owen Specker; step great-granddaughter Morgan Hoff; sister Delores Nuttelman; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Susan Kay; brother Leyton; and infant sister Lenore. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial and military honors to follow in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St, in Westby. Friends may also call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be made to Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church or a charity of donors choice. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
