Listen to Obituary

Linda Kay Fisher, age 75, of Viroqua, passed away on April 14, 2026 at Vernon Manor after a long battle with breast cancer. Linda was born on April 4, 1951, in Ontario, WI to Walter Kruk and Mabel (Clark). She graduated from La Farge High School and soon after met her devoted husband, Donald Fisher. The couple married on July 4, 1969, in Viroqua.

Linda and Donald raised their son, Waide Fisher, in Avalanche before later moving just outside of Viroqua.

Linda worked at Kruk Pharmacy in Viroqua shortly after getting married and later spent several years with the Community Action Program in both Viroqua and Westby as an outreach worker, where she also wrote grants. She later joined Krause Monument in the 1980s as an office manager and enjoyed working with members of the community.

In high school she discovered her passion for sewing and baking, but Linda was also known for making handmade crafts, often collaborating with Donald who contributed his creative woodworking skills and artistic talents. During the winter months, the two created and gifted many of their pieces to friends and family and were always proud to share them. Summers were spent tending to many flowerbeds, which featured roses, lilies, and other perennials blooming throughout the season.

Linda loved dancing in her earlier years, and whenever she was around her siblings, someone was bound to be pulled onto the dance floor—especially her brother Roger.

Linda is survived by her husband, Donald Hasson Fisher; her son, Waide Lyndon Fisher of Onalaska, WI; daughter-in-law, Maria Fisher; her granddaughter, Giselle Fisher of Philadelphia, PA; her grandson, Andre Fisher of Manhattan, NY; and her sisters, Mary Chaput (Nelson) and Doris Mickelson (Nelson).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mabel (Clark) Kruk; her brother, Robert Nelson; her sister, Phyllis Vollrath (Nelson); her sister, Betty Schumacher (Nelson); and her brother, Roger Kruk.

Linda held a special place in her heart for her nieces Wendy Chaput, Denise Chaput, Michele Chaput, and Monica Nagle, who visited her frequently over the years, especially while she was homebound.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Vernon Memorial Healthcare, Vernon Manor, St. Croix Hospice, and Gundersen Health System for their years of compassionate and dedicated care, as well as the kind neighbors on Bakkom Road for their generous support.

A celebration of life, followed by a light reception, will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Viroqua, WI, from 1–3 p.m.

A private interment at North Coon Prairie Cemetery in Westby, WI, will take place at a later date.

The family respectfully requests no flowers.
