Lois M. Porter, 66, of Viroqua, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Lois M. Porter, age 66 of Viroqua, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua. She was born in Chicago, IL, on April 3, 1943 to James and Marian Bala. Lois was united in marriage to James Porter on October 11, 1973 in Chicago, and on their 25th and 35th wedding anniversaries, recommitted their wedding vows. She was an artist, and spent her free time writing, reading and playing scrabble. Lois was also very proud of her Catholic faith. Lois is survived by her husband James; mother in-law, Della Porter of Indiana and father-in-law, Emory Porter of Indiana; brothers-in-law John and Jerry Porter; sister-in-law Janet Peterson; cousin Bruce Bala; aunt and uncle: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bala; and her cats: Fluffy, Snuffy, Cookie and Queenie. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Viroqua United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Reverend Ethan Larson and Father Robert Cook will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family
