Mexico / Westby Lori Ann (Olson) Vielma, 56, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 in Cancun, Mexico. She was born in Viroqua on May 12, 1960 to Ivan and Gloria (Hooverson) Olson. Lori was baptized by Rev. O.M. Kleven and confirmed by Rev. LaVerne Nelson at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. On February 14, 1986 she was united in marriage to Gabriel Vielma. Two sons, Gabriel Ivan and Jonathan were born to them. Lori graduated in the top of her class from Westby High School in1978. She attended college at UW-Madison and graduated with honors, at Camp Randall Stadium in 1982. Lori worked for ASCS in Viroqua during breaks from college and during summers. She moved to Wausau, when she became ASCS Director for Marathon County. In 1987 Lori and Gabriel moved to Cancun, Mexico. She had her own office in a resort and received an award for being top seller of time shares. She worked 16-hour days at her job, and took care of cats at her shelter. She loved cats, spending times with her sons, boating and camping, playing Scrabble with the family, going shopping with Jeff, and she loved her granddaughters, Adelyn and Reese. Lori is survived by: her husband, Gabriel; sons: Gabriel Ivan and Jonathan David; granddaughters: Adelyn and Reese; her parents; and the pets at home and at her shelter. She was preceded in death by: her brother, Jeff on December 26, 2016; her grandparents; great-grandparents; and uncles: Ardell and Harlan. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Country Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Westby at 11:30 AM. Pastor Dan Wollman will officiate. Friends may call during a visitation at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 before the service. A luncheon at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred.
