Lorraine Longmire

VIROQUA Lorraine E. Longmire "Dynamite", age 80, died Monday, November 7, 2016 at Bethel Home and Services in Viroqua. She was born June 6, 1936 in DeSoto, to Herschel and Ida Mae (Baumer) Whitney. Lorraine attended DeSoto Schools and graduated with the first graduating of the "new" DeSoto High School in 1954. She married Cecil Longmire in 1959 and later divorced. Lorraine worked for many years at Schultz Brothers in Viroqua, and in the years that followed worked at Mr. Gs also in Viroqua. She spent the last seven years at Fairhaven, Bethany St. Josephs, and the Bethel Home and Services. Lorraine was a loving and kind mom, grandmother, sister and friend. Lorraine was a walker, she never drove anywhere as she never got her license, but walked everywhere. Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Melinda Longmire; and her grandchildren: Shaun Markin, Katie Markin, Kodye (Cassie) Dock, Darcee (Zack) Knight, Mysti (Tyler) Pratt, and Cody Howell; and great-grandchildren: Izabella, Raelynn, Kena, Karter, and Skylee; as well as her step-grandchildren: Serie, Darren, Madison and Bailey. Also surviving are her siblings: Marian Whitney, Bernice Higgs, Doris (Don) Blackburn and Sharon (Steve) Groves, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; her daughter, Lucy Markin; brothers: Milo Bub, Raymond Ole, Charles Chuck, Melvin Joe, Robert Bob sisters: Juanita and Shirley and infant sister, Judy; and brothers-in-law: Bert Higgs, Roger Bakken, and Kenneth Hooverson. Funeral Services for Lorraine will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Assembly of God Church, 201 W. Broadway, in Viroqua, at 12:00 noon. Pastor David Allen will officiate the service. Burial will follow the service at the Viroqua City Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation from 10:00-12:00 prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials may be directed to Relay for Life or to the Alzheimer Research Foundation.
