Lorraine P. Mageland

VIROQUA Lorraine P Mageland, age 81, died October 6, 2016 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. Lorraine Phyllis (Larson) Mageland, 81, of Viroqua, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016. She was born on August 14, 1935 in Vernon County to Maurice & Agnes (Hoffland) Larson. She grew up in Brush Hollow and graduated from Viroqua High School in 1953. Lorraine married Merlin Mageland on August 14, 1954 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua, where she was a life long member. Lorraine worked at a variety of local businesses for many years. Most recently as the meal site manager at Bigley Plaza. In 1967 Merlin and Lorraine started Mageland Oil Company. When her children were young she spent much of her time in the kitchen, baking lefse, canning, and making meals with enough to serve whoever may stop by. In recent years Lorraine spent her afternoons on her circuit, out visiting her friends. Lorraine is survived by her children: Brenda (Chuck) Noggle of Stoddard, Gary of Viroqua, Gretchen (Brad) Johnson of Seneca, and Mike of Westby; her grandchildren: Brooke (Chad) Klecker, Nate Noggle, Zach Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Mason Mageland, Dayna Noggle; as well as great-granddaughters: Hayden & Harper Klecker; sister, Betty Everson; she is further survived by special sister-in-law, Elaine Banta; long time neighborhood friends: Angie and Reinie Leis, Maxine and Charlie Burch, and Joyce and Tom Dolan, as well as several family members; and Masons dog, Wiggles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin; and son, Dave; brother, Donald Larson; and life long friend, Pat Jones. Blessed be our memory of Lorraine Mageland. Funeral services for Lorraine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Yvonne Marshall will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 5:00 p.m. at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker Street, (Hwy. 56) in Viroqua. In lieu of flowers and plants memorial may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or American Lung Association.
