Louis �Pete� Gilardi

Louis "Pete" Gilardi, 84, of Viroqua died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 Louis "Pete" Gilardi, age 84 of Viroqua, died Wednesday May 1, 2013 at the Vernon Manor in Viroqua. He was born January 11, 1929 in Genoa the son of Louis Sr. and Elizabeth (Jambois) Gilardi. Pete was a graduate of Aquinas High School in LaCrosse. He was united in marriage to Darlene Lamprech on April 18 1951. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 and was stationed in Korea. Pete served as a deputy for the Vernon County Sherriffs Department from 1959 until 1973. He then worked at Nelson Muffler until his retirement in 1986. Pete was a member of the Viroqua VFW Post 3032 and the Viroqua Eagles Club. Pete loved his Polka Music and enjoyed being with his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Darlene of Viroqua, 2 daughters Debra Johnson of Westby and Katherine Gilardi of LaCrosse, 1 son, Gary (Linda) Gilardi of Viroqua, 3 grandchildren, Bradley (Stacey) Gilardi, Eric Gilardi and Matthew Johnson, and 3 great grandchildren, Taylor, Hadley and Haylee Gilardi. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Lorraine Gilardi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday May 4, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. Monsignor Francis Abuah Quansah will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Viroqua Cemetery with military rites by the United States Army Honors Team, Running- Johnson-Ray VFW Post 3032 and Jacobson-Olson American Legion Post 138. Visitation will be held on Friday May 3rd from 4 to 7 p.m. at theVosseteig Funeral Home in Westby and at the church on Saturday after 9:30 a.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
