Lucie Ellen Matthes Glick

Lucie Ellen Matthes Glick February 3, 1924 - April 13, 2016 Born in Viola Wisconsin, Lucie never forgot where she was from and stayed involved with her Wisconsin family. Daughter of Fred and Mae (VanFleet) Matthes, Lucie graduated Viola High School in 1942. She planned to join the service but World War II ended just as she graduated nursing school. She worked as a nurse for 45 years in a wide area - nursing homes, emergency rooms, and the VA. Lucie was a caring wife to husband Arthur John Glick of Sylvan, WI. Due to his job, she lived in many different places, too numerous to list. She made friends everywhere she went. A devoted mother to her two sons Avery 'Oscar' Glick and Charles 'Dewey' Glick, she gave them a rich childhood with trips back to Wisconsin each summer. Lucie was an exceptional grandmother to her three grand children, Dorothy Glick, Sarah Glick, and Matthew Glick and a good mother-in-law to Camille Glick. Lucie will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she will live on in our hearts. She is survived by her sons, grandchildren, many neices and nephews, and in Viola her sister Naomi Sanford and her brother Jim and wife Sandra Matthes. Services will be held at the Viola United Methodist Church on 11 am Saturday, September 3, 2016.
