Lucille Peterson, age 89, formerly of Westby, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Lucille Peterson, age 89, formerly of Westby, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua where she had been a resident since 2001. She was born on January 21, 1920 to Clinton and Minerva (Olson) Running. On February 1, 1940 she was united in marriage to Clarence Peterson. Lucille had various jobs over the years including: housekeeping, child care, and was a waitress at Borgens. She was a member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, the W-ELCA, and a former member of the Abigail Circle and Quilters. She enjoyed embroidery and braiding home made rugs as well as baking, visiting and speaking Norwegian with friends. Lucille was especially fond of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed her weekly visits from Donna Erickson. Lucille is survived by her daughter, Mary (Edward) Bena of Coon Valley; three grandchildren: Amy Bena of LaCrosse, Jim (Andria) Bena of Stevens Point and Jeff Bena of LaCrosse; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Kreibich and Allison Bena; on sister-in-law, Alice Gums of West Salem and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Harland on May 5, 1962; her husband, Clarence on December 2, 1970; and three brothers: Tim (Celia), Milton and Leo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
