Lucita Lucy Vaiciunas

Lucita "Lucy" Vaiciunas, 75, of Soldiers Grove, died Saturday, April 8, 2017. Lucy was born on September 9, 1941 in Davao City, Mindanao, in the Philippines to Pablo and Victoria (Lumain) Villasica. She graduated from San Pedro Nursing School in Davao City. Lucy moved to the United States in 1979. She met George Vaiciunas in Chicago and they were married on May 28, 1983. Lucy was an orthopedic and Med-Surg Nurse for 32 years in Chicago. She liked to travel and enjoyed sewing and gardening. She made shelters for her pet dogs. Lucy liked to cook, often making Oriental and Italian dishes. Lucy is survived by: her husband, George; one nephew, Glenn Villasica of Davao; sisters-in-law: Donna and Chris; and mother-in-law, Harriet Vaiciunas. She was preceded in death by: her parents; six brothers; and father-in-law, Charles Vaiciunas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Fr. Zacharie Beya will officiate with burial to follow in the Gays Mills Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8pm on Tuesday, April 11, at the Vosseteig Funeral Home (325 Sunset Ridge) in Gays Mills. Friends may also call at the Church on Wednesday from 10 am till the time of service at 11.
