Lyle L. George, 94, died Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Sannes Skogdalen nursing home in Soldiers Grove. Lyle L. George, age 94 of Gays Mills, died Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Sannas Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove. He was born on July 17, 1919 to Bert and Mae George. Lyle farmed the home farm and on January 3, 1939 he was united in marriage to Eva Burkum. He continued to farm until 1975 when they retired from farming and built a new home. Lyle then hauled milk and worked for the Haney Township. He is survived by one son, Jerry (Sandra) George of Gays Mills and one daughter, Marsha (Bob) Smith of Soldiers Grove; a daughter-in-law, Linda George of Gays Mills; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva in 1990; two sons: Larry and Allan; one daughter, Betty; one granddaughter, Susan; one grandson, Randy; three sisters and five brothers. Blessed be our memory of Lyle L. George. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Gays Mills. Pastor Lorie Betz will officiate with burial in the Gays Mills Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday after 10:00 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Gays Mills is serving the family.
