WESTBY Lynn Diane Stanton, age 63, of Westby, died Tuesday April 11, 2017 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Lynn was born in Rockford IL on May 31, 1953 to George and Marjorie (Hayden) Haller. She graduated with a bachelors degree from Illinois State University, located in Normal, IL, although Lynn called it Abnormal, IL. As a young woman, she lived in Germany, where, for some time, she worked as a civilian for the armed forces. While living in Germany, Lynn took the opportunity to travel throughout Europe, which satiated her love of traveling. Lynn loved crafting and sewing, especially clothes for her grandchildren. She was fearless enough to cook without recipes, and her family was usually fearless enough to try it. She made the best BBQ sandwiches. Her love of cooking and food probably came from living in New Orleans, LAthe city she fell in love with and always considered home. She belonged to a Mardi Gras Krewe, the Krewe de Vieux, which marched through the French Quarter, throwing beads to parade goers. The only thing she loved more than New Orleans was her grandchildren. She loved them enough to move and suffer through Wisconsin winters. Lynn was tough; she laughed in the face of adversity. She was a beautiful singer, and was sharp-witted. Lynn was a very intelligent, insightful, caring woman, and her energy will be sorely missed. She is survived today by her only daughter Anne (Jeff) Stoltenow of Westby and her two grandchildren George and Kate. Also surviving are two brothers Steve and Larry Haller, two sisters Susan (Jerry) Smith and Gail (Randy) Whelchel, a sister-in-law Karen (Rodney) Bartels and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her parents and a sister-in-law Kathleen Haller. A very special thank you goes out to Karen McAllister, Lynns dear friend and caregiver.
