Mae Eva Farris

Mae Eva Farris, 82, of La Farge, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024. She was known for her love of family and friends. She always welcomed people into her home where they instantly felt comfortable. Mae was born to Vera Dickson and Orval Campton on May 25, 1942. She owned the Peppermint Stick and Sportsman’s in La Farge. She also worked many years at Whitehall in Hillsboro. She retired at the age of 70.

Survivors include her children, Janet (Jeff) Melvin of West Lima, Vicki Segel of La Farge, and Gena Ballering of La Farge; three grandchildren she raised with great love, Alan Long of La Farge and Angela (Andy) Barnes of Trempealeau, and Amanda Long (who passed on) and her beloved dog, Cooper.

She’ll be greatly missed by her siblings, Jack (Vicki) Campton of Montgomery, AL, her brothers, Casey and Michael Campton of La Farge; her sisters, Dixie Campton Shumate and Donna (George) Wilder of La Farge; her grandchildren, Jeni Melvin, Alisha (Elliott) Lombard; Angela (Andy) Barnes, Alan Long, Megan (Robbie) Strait, John (Kyla) Kelter, Anthony Farris, and Eva Farris; two devoted friends, Pam Riddle and Karen Cutler; her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Mason, Payton, Kaydence, Ariana, Kaylynn, Auston, Tucker, Vivian, Onika, Quentin, Beckett, Enzlee, Athena, Xian, Rhea, and Luka; and one great-great-grandson, Calvin; several nieces and nephews; many friends in the community; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Stacey Alan Long; her daughter, Tina Louise Long; her brother, Bobbie Dickson; her granddaughter, Amanda Long; and her son-in-law, Andy Segel.

Blessed be the memory of Mae Farris. The family thanks everyone for their love and care.

A Memorial Service for Mae will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the La Farge Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
