Margaret Lewison

Margaret Lewison, 80, of Viroqua, died, Saturday, April 21, 2018. Margaret Caroline (Buckley) Lewison was born on July 5, 1937 in Portland, Oregon to Carroll and Alice (Rhea) Buckley. She graduated from Vernonia High School and attended Oregon State College. She worked in Portland and helped her parents on their dairy farm. This allowed her to pursue her passion of showing Percheron horses and Ayrshire and Guernsey cattle. It was showing cattle that led her to meet her husband Connie. They were married in Vancouver, Washington on January 7, 1967 and spent their first year together in California where Connie worked at Pineyhill Dairy. They moved to Wisconsin in 1968. Margaret made the choice to be a stay at home mom and a farm wife. She grew to love the Holstein cattle they raised together and took great joy in creating unique names for the registration papers. Being at home allowed her to volunteer with girl scouts, Sunday school, Vernon County Holstein Association and especially 4-H and bowling in the Mothers league. She also was a foodie before it was cool and she spent hours baking and creating culinary masterpieces. After the kids were grown she worked for years at ORC in Westby. She really treasured the friendships she made there. She also stayed involved in her homemakers group and baked cakes for her church circle. Margaret loved going to Viroqua basketball and baseball games and traveling to Owen-Withee to watch the other Blackhawks. Friday fish and Saturday breakfast club were a weekly favorite. She is survived by her husband Conrad, son Brian of Owen, daughter Leslie and her husband Jeff of Westby. Sister Donna (Don) Shannon, sisters-in-law Dorothy Gillette and Sue Lewison, brother-in-law David (Miriam) Lewison, nieces, nephews and cousins including her special cousins Mitch (Tag) Ashbeck. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Yvonne Marshall will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 4-6pm at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home (123 W Decker / Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10am till the time of service at 11. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Bland-Bekkedal Hospice Center.
