Margaret Miller Vold

January 12, 1922 — January 28, 2007

Margaret Vold (Miller) died on Sunday, January 28, 2007 Margaret Vold (Miller) passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 28 with her family by her side. She was born January 12, 1922 to Esther and Lester Miller in the township of Clinton in Vernon County at 5:00 AM. Margaret was baptized January 18, 1949 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church by L.L McCormick, the minister of Dell Church. Margaret was married to Karsten Vold March 8, 1941 at Lutheran Parsonage Church in Waukon, Iowa by Father Peter Kjorlang. Margaret graduated July 1, 1939 from Normal School in Viroqua and went on to teach for the next seven years. Margaret and Karsten then farmed near Dell. Karsten later went on to be a truck driver while Margaret stayed home to tend to the farm. They had a son, Clair Eugene Vold, on December 17, 1941 who later passed on at an early age of 41 on his birthday. In 1969, Karsten retired and the couple moved to Madison where Margaret worked for the State of Wisconsin in the Department of Transportation for 15 years. In addition to the loss of her son, Margaret lost her husband of 42 years on January 12, 1982. Margaret and Karstens relationship was built on a strong foundation of love, trust, and faith. Margaret loved caring for her grandson, Eric, while the rest of the family enjoyed horseback riding on her mothers farm near Dell. Margarets joys in life were her two grandchildren (Vickie (Vold) Cina and Eric Vold). She was an avid walker, loved her casino trips and loved her weekly drives. Margaret was a very compassionate, classy lady who could always warm your heart with her gentle smile. Throughout her life she provided comfort to anyone who would need a listening ear no matter what the situation. "And this too shall pass" is what she would tell everyone in a time of need and comfort. Margaret cared for her husband, Karsten, and in her later years her special friend, Kenneth Marshall. Margaret is survived by her grandchildren, Vickie (Joseph) Cina of Westby and Eric (Beth) Vold of Viroqua; five great-grandchildren: Jacob, Lucas, and Emily Jo Cina, and Danielle and Kory Vold. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Vold-Brudos; her sister, Maxine Hendrickson of Viroqua, sisters-in-law: Lilah Miller of Cashton, Isabelle Vold of Phelps, Olive (Vold) Parker of Westby, Arlene (Vold) Reed of Huntington Beach, CA, and brother-in-law Arden Brendum of Westby, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and parents-in-law, Ole and Helga Vold, she was preceded in death by her son, Claire Vold on December 17, 1982; her husband, Karsten Vold on January 12, 1983; one brother Arvo "Bud" Miller; one sister Delores Fleming; brothers-and sisters-in-law: Nordahl and Amanda (Vold) Nelson, Clarence and Myrtle (Vold) Role, Henry and Iola Vold, Lloyd Nelson, Oscar and Thelma Vold, Ruth (Vold) Hodges, Donald Parker, Wayne Reed, and Hazel (Vold) Brendum; and her special friend, Kenneth Marshall.
